Resist
The federal administration likes to say our nation is under attack, and I believe it. They, themselves, are the threat that we face, and we should all protect the United States of America from enemies both foreign AND domestic. A fascist regime hellbent on stripping away the rights of any of our citizens is a threat to all of our citizens, and as a leader of this community, I won't sit idly by when they come knocking on our door, whether it be to kidnap our residents or remove our funding. I am not afraid of them, and I will stand against them if need be.
Replace
When it comes to the funding, the current administration sees it fit to remove funding from anyone they deem an enemy of their agenda, and sooner or later, that threat will be levied against us. While I would love to be able to rely on the federal funding that allows us to remain comfortable, I also know that it cannot be relied upon without sacrificing some of the ideals that make us human under the current leadership. For better or worse, I can't abide that, and I don't believe many of our leaders, past or present, would be willing to either. We must develop greater levels of independence, even if it means radically shifting our budgeting to make room for what really matters, our people. I can write a whole page on this, and will soon.
Reform
I vow to do my best to root out inefficiencies in our operations and close those gaps to cover some of those assured funding cuts. My other initiatives are designed, at least in part, with revenue in mind. Some may not be fully plausible if cuts some sooner than expected, but I promise to take every opportunity to figure out what's truly needed and what probably isn't, like DOGE if it was actually good.
