Preserve
Our environment is special. Florida is home to some pretty spectacular and unique natural landscapes. These natural spaces are also very fragile, and easily impacted and damaged by development. I take it as a serious call to arms to protect these environments from any and all unnecessary impacts. Yes, that means no huge resorts or pickleball courts in our state parks... obviously.
Promote
In addition to making sure our environments don't fall victim to damage caused by impacts, I think it's really important to reach for opportunities to promote and grow our natural spaces, through potential land buybacks and possible incentives for land owners who are willing to restore their lands, improve them, and pledge not to develop upon them.
Provide
The natural lands of Orange County are for people. People should be able to enjoy them. To ensure that they can, we need to focus on access and availability. Sometimes that requires swift recovery after an event like a hurricane. Sometimes it requires a refresh of the road into a state park. Sometimes it just requires helping citizens know that they exist. I want to make sure our citizens know that our lands are there for visiting, and to help to ensure they remain that way for a long time.
